IPL News: (RCB Captain 2025) Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) have appointed Rajat Patidar as their new captain. On Thursday, the team announced Rajat as the new captain through a post on x.
Virat congratulated Patidar
Earlier, there were speculations that Virat Kohli would be made the captain, but it did not happen. The team posted a video of Kohli congratulating Patidar on being made the captain.
He said, “I am with you, Rajat, and so are the other members of the team.” You have won the hearts of all RCB supporters with your performance and the way you have grown in this franchise. You deserve it.
Patidar will replace Faf du Plessis
The 31-year-old Patidar will replace Faf du Plessis. Although he captained RCB from 2022 to 2024, du Plessis was not retained by the team for 2025.
Rajat has been a member of the team since 2021. He was retained by the franchise ahead of the 2024 mega auction. In the 2024-25 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and Vijay Hazare Trophy season, Rajat captained Madhya Pradesh.
Contribution of Rajat Patidar to RCB.
Rajat Patidar has been associated with the RCB franchise since 2021. He returned in 2022 due to injury. In 27 IPL matches, Rajat Patidar has scored 799 runs at a strike rate of 158.85. He lived up to 175 years.
After becoming the captain, Rajat Patidar said
There are some leaders among us. I will benefit from their experience in my new role. I have a great opportunity to learn from one of the top cricket players, Kohli. As a captain, I will benefit from his expertise.
